The team at Mustang Monthly is at SEMA taking the Mustang world by storm. We wanted to bring you some of the Mustangs hot off of the showroom floor. Being the largest automotive trade show, it is hard to see everything there is out there on the floor, but we found some good Mustangs that you might enjoy.
Here is a list of Mustangs that we compiled for your viewing pleasure. Some of you may recognize some of these in our story of upcoming builds or past exclusive web stories.
2008 NASCAR-powered Mustang at Whiteline booth
We brought you Marc’s NASCAR-powered Mustang a few months back, but today it sits inside of the Whiteline booth.
This Mustang started out as a 2008 daily driver and was built to dominate the track with an impressive 724 horsepower sent straight down to the rear wheels. It once had the normal 4.6L that once experienced overheating and he soon opted for something outside of the box.
Marc, general manager of the Mustang Shop, decided it was time to stuff a 358ci NASCAR-sourced V-8 into the engine bay. That engine came from Mark Martin’s Pfizer Sprint Cup car and is being built to compete in the NASA American Iron Extreme Class. The Mustang Shop bought the engine along with several other components from Roush Yates Engines and got to work building up this beast of a car. The stock hood was cut to accommodate such a large powerplant. Believe it or not, this Mustang is licensed, insured, and street-legal.
Along with the engine, the shifter and driveshaft also came out of Martin’s car. The intake, cam, and carburetor were switched to make a more road course-friendly car. Shifting power comes from a TEX Racing 4-speed clutchless transmission and Whiteline Flatout provided the full suspension package with a Watts link and anti-dive kit. Randy’s Ring & Pinion/Yukon Gears supplied the racing differential axles and gears.
Ring Brother’s 1965 Mustang “Blizzard”
Featured in our upcoming builds story, the Ring Brother’s did it again and brought another fresh Mustang to the SEMA floor this year. The 1965 Ford Mustang dubbed “Blizzard” was built by Mark and Jim Ring, a team of brothers that are well-known for their insane builds.
The “Blizzard” features a NASCAR Sprint Cup V-8 engine and is white with black and red racing stripes. Carbon fiber components embody the car such as the hood, roof and front spoiler. Unique wheels help set off the exterior perfectly with large red brake calipers.
Creations’n Chrome Fox-Body
The red Fox-body you see here is the same blue Mustang built by Creations’n Chrome that was seen all over the web and at the SEMA show last year. This year it comes back to SEMA with a bright new red hue.
This beast of a Fox-body is rockin’ an FRPP Aluminator 5.0L Coyote set back in the engine bay about 1.7-inches giving the car 50/50 weight distribution. Mated to the engine is a Vortech JT supercharger bumping up the power to a crazy 1,000 horses.
A Ron Davis double pass radiator provides cooling power to the engine and shifting power comes from a G-Force five-speed transmission. Now with central weight distribution, power steering is no longer needed.
A 9-inch rear differential was added with Hotchkis components. The chassis is a custom-built chromoly tube chassis weighing in at just seven hundred pounds.
There’s not a whole lot left of this car’s original body with just the original steel roof. The doors have been replaced with carbon fiber doors and the front bumper only weighs about 8 pounds. Maier Racing carbon fenders were widened and added to the body to help make room for massive tires.
1969 Mustang Mach IV
Sitting inside of Galpin Auto Sport’s booth is the Mach IV, a one-of-a-kind Mustang featuring four Windsor engines. The engines face back-to-back and require reverse-grind cams for the engines in the front. These 351s were built with a 12:1 compression.
The chassis was built using 4130 chromoly tubing with a 1969 Mustang “Sports Roof” funny car shell. Kent Enderle injectors deliver fuel. The awesome thing about it is that this Mustang is powered through one single clutch.
This Mustang ran 7-second quarter-miles at about 180mph. It was retired back in the day by Gary and his wife Jill, and recently came out of hiding. Now here it sits at the 2013 SEMA show and we are happy to see it!
Ryan Venturino 1965 Ford Mustang
This sweet ride sitting out front of the Las Vegas Convention Center was built by Scott’s Hotrods and Customs according to the sign sitting under the hood. We couldn’t help but add this to our list. The final assembly and paint were done by Palmers Customs.
The chassis is completely done by Scott’s Hotrods and Customs and it features over 100 individual body modifications. What we know about it is that it has an Ididit Steering Column, Unisteer Rack and Pinion components, Wilwood brake components, American Autowire wiring harness, Billets Specialties engine accessories and a Moser 9-inch rear axle.
Scott Drake's 1964 1/2 Mustang
Another Ford Mustang that we couldn't resist is the fully-restored 1964 1/2 convertible restored to mint condition by Mustangs of East Texas. To celebrate the upcoming 50th-anniversary of the Mustang, Scott Drake and his crew dressed in 60s hippy gear at the unveiling of this classic.
This car will tour the country in 2014 and come January 2015, it will hit the auction block to benefit the National Down Syndrome Society, an organization near and dear to the Drake family. Drake's son Troy was born with Down's Syndrome.
The car and the partss to restore this build were provided by Drake and club members from Mustangs of East Texas took on the job to bring this Mustang back to former glory. The body and paint work were done by Eddie Siler.
