NMRA Grand Slam Event In Joliet, Illinois - Come One, Come All

 1957 F 100 Editor's Choice Winner

Mustang & Fords Editor's Choice Award
'57 F-100
Gary Coe, Portland, Oregon

Gary Coe has built many interesting vehicles. For his latest creation he commissioned the crew at Steve's Auto Restorations [www.stevesautorestorations; (503) 665-2222] out of Portland to build Gary one of the slickest F-100s we've seen in quite a while. There's no surprise that this truck was an attention getter all weekend and took home Top 20, First Place Best Ford Truck, Second Place Under Construction, First Place Peoples' Choice, and our own Editor's Choice award, all on Saturday. We're sure he would have cleaned up at Sunday's show as well, but he left Saturday evening to attend the Hot August Nights event in Reno, Nevada.

Gary's F-100 features almost every trick in the book, with a custom, blown, modular four-valve engine install; huge wheels; custom body modifications that include a top that was chopped, sectioned, and pancaked; sectioning and lengthening the hood; a forward leaning tailgate; tucked bumpers; and much more. The frame on which the truck sits is a custom one-off affair and helps give the truck that in-the-weeds stance. Even sitting still, Gary's truck looks like it is at full trot going a buck-30-which is exactly the result he was going for when he sat down with Steve Frisbie and the staff at Steve's Auto Restorations.
