Registry UpdatesWe recently heard from the gurus at The Third Generation Registry, and they have announced a name change and the availability of some new information for late-model Mustangs. The registry is now titled The Third Generation News & Beyond National Registry and caters to not only '82-'93 Mustangs but also '94-'98 fourth-generation and '99 fifth-generation Mustangs. With all of these model years, the registry can now document and authenticate the exterior paint code, the interior color and type codes, the build date, and more. For the '94-'99 models, extra information pertaining to transmission codes and convertible top colors exists as well.

The information is free for the asking; simply call (321) 984-1125 and leave a message, including your VIN and return telephone number. Someone will return your call with information and the option of having the information printed as a data sheet on heavyweight paper with full-color ink (as shown above).

Department Of CorrectionsWhen Bob Perkins helped our intrepid technical editor, Mark Houlahan, with a question on Paint OK stamps for his '66, Bob fired off a fax with a 1:1 stamp of what we needed. Little did we know that the stamp we subsequently printed (see Resto Roundup, Jan. '01, page 15) was only originally used on Dearborn-built cars (which is what Bob has). San Jose- and New Jersey-built Mustangs used a different style stamp, according to MCA Gold Card Judge Jeff Speegle. We are working on getting replicas of these other stamps to reprint in the magazine. Stay tuned.

Calling All CarsOr more to the point, car builders. If you are a nonprofessional car builder, Summit Racing wants to hear from you. Summit Racing is starting the first-ever national, nonprofessional show car competition, titled the Summit All Stars.

This program is open to all nonprofessional builders of street rods, musclecars, racecars, trucks, sport compacts, and more. Winners will earn cash awards, national recognition, and the privilege of displaying their vehicles at the '02 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. A panel of industry-savvy judges will make the final selection of these vehicles.

To qualify for the Summit All Stars, entrants must show their vehicle at a minimum of one nationally recognized car show or race, and the vehicle must be built from readily available aftermarket parts. For an entry form or for more information, check out Summit Racing's mail-order catalog (What? You don't have one?) or visit the Web site www.summitracing.com.

NetstangSnap-On Tools has launched its retail Web site, www.snapon.com, where average schmoes, such as you and I, can buy quality Snap-On tools without having to chase down one of its mobile dealers in the famous red-and-white tool trucks that cater to repair facilities. Snap-On tools, known throughout the world's sanctioned race events and tracks as well as the technician at the corner garage, can now have a home in your garage with 24-7 online shopping. The online catalog contains more than 14,000 hand, power, and diagnostic tools, ready for you to call them yours or to give as a present. Featured products rotate off the home page regularly to maintain a fresh look with each visit. Dell Computer servers back the site to help keep it up and running when you need it most. Check it out, and tell them Mustang Monthly sent you.
