You've wanted to; you know you have. It's been in the back of your mind: Pony Trails. Open road, fast company, wind in your hair or over your head. Yep, you've thought about it, but felt you just couldn't make it happen.
We'll be expecting you there to bring Georgia and the Mustang Club of America (MCA) up with the folks at the Nashville, Indiana, SAAC Meet with their 84 Mustangs. Surely, the MCA can top that number and move into Third, or even Second Place, behind the Mustangs Northwest crowd.
This show promises to be one of the best of the season. With 25 years under its belt, MCA can boast some fairly impressive levels of membership and participation. As we told you last month, vendors will be selling all things Mustang, and cars will be for sale. The show field promises to be chockful of the quality and quantity we're accustomed to at an MCA show. We'll be there during all four days (except for the Friday Trail), and we'll even have Lazarus, our '72 Mach 1; The Silver Bullet, our '70 Mach 1; and Project '66 on display.
Our Trail, like many of our previous trails, will have a mix of interstate, highway, and two-lane roads. This will show off the Georgia countryside to its best advantage and give us a varied driving pace. We're truly looking forward to seeing the turnout (hint, hint) from this dedicated club. Surely, an MCA event can get close to Ocala, Florida, where we had, on a revised count, 111 Mustangs.
Directions for the Trail
We'll leave Mustangs Unlimited at 9:30 a.m. and head north on Interstate 85. We'll exit State Highway 316 and head east until we reach U.S. Highway 29. At the intersection of Hwy. 316 and Hwy. 29, we'll continue east on Hwy. 29. Close to Athens, we'll turn north on U.S. Highway 79 and hit the loop around Athens. The loop is somewhat confusing, so remember to stay on State Highway 8, Loop 79, and 29, and you should be fine. Don't go on Business 79. If you do, you'll end up with a scenic tour of Athens and separate from our trail. As you loop around Athens, look for the exit to U.S. Highway 441 north; exit here. At this point, we'll stop and regroup for 30 minutes at a sight we'll decide on at the Mustangs Unlimited 9 a.m. drivers' meeting. From there, we'll move out north again on Hwy. 441, all the way to Commerce. In town, Hwy. 441 will turn left, so be on the lookout. Continue on Hwy. 441 north. The Wal-Mart parking lot will be on your right. At this point, we'll break for lunch. From Wal-Mart, we'll parade into the show site. After we leave Wal-Mart, cross I-85, pass East Ridgeway Road, and turn left onto Faulkner. From Faulkner we'll pony onto East Ridgeway Road and into the site.

5) My Mustang isn't finished.
Not good enough. We allow any enthusiast to join up. We've had F-350s, Windstars, and even a Volvo; just no GM products.
4) I'm broke.
Since Pony Trails is free, you'll only have to pay for gas.
3) I want to show my car.
Several of our Trailers have gone to the shows and won in their classes.
2) It might rain, and I want to show.
In Nashville three of our Trailers went out in torrential downpours and won in their classes.

I dropped a camera on mine two weeks ago in the garage, so it can happen anywhere.
