Ford Debuts Touring Centennial DisplayCarlisle, Pa., June 1, 2002-Ford Motor Company unveiled a new touring display called the "100th Anniversary Experience" at the Carlisle All-Ford National event. The display highlights the company's many accomplishments and successes of nearly 100 years, and looks ahead to the company's future.
"Ford has a long and rich history, and we've tried to capture as much as we could to make this experience both interesting and fun for visitors," said John Nens, sales and marketing manager, Ford Centennial Operations. "Our goal is to give visitors a brief overview of the highlights of the company's past, as well as a peek into the future."
The display will visit key events and locations in the U.S., such as the Carlisle All-Ford Nationals. The experience also will be used for company employee, dealer, and supplier events.
The traveling display uses a customized 53-foot trailer with the 100th anniversary identity. Inside, visitors will see a timeline of the company, historic photos and memorabilia, and a special centennial video called "The Road Is Ours."
Two vehicles will be on display: one of the company's early products of historical significance and one of the company's unique concept vehicles, which represents the future.
"We believe the experience will be very popular with car buffs, particularly Ford enthusiasts and employees," Nens said. "We're already being contacted by car clubs from around the world asking how they can participate in the centennial, so we're working on plans to include as many as possible in the 100th anniversary celebration."
Ford Motor Company's 100th anniversary is on June 16, 2003. The company is planning events and activities through the end of 2003. Information is available on Ford's 100th anniversary Web site, which can be accessed through www.ford.com.
Pony JokesThe Genie is Out of the Bottle
A man was walking down the beach when he found a lamp. He rubbed it and a genie came out. The man said, "Sweet, I could use three wishes."
"Three? That is an old wives tale," said the genie. "You only get one, so make it count."
The man looks across the ocean and says, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I'm afraid to fly and sailing is out of the question. So, build me a bridge so I can drive my Cobra out there and find some island races."
The genie is dumbfounded. He replies, "You have got to be kidding! There is no way I could do that. Consider how much concrete and asphalt that would take. Not to mention Green Peace will protest, and you would run out of gas. Make another wish."
The man thinks, and replies, "Well there is one other thing. I have never been able to understand women. From my mom to my sisters and all the girls I've ever dated, I've never had a clue what a single one was thinking. I want to be able to understand women."
The genie replies, "So do you want four lanes or two?"
Warm HandsFord has added wires to the rear window to clear fog and frost.
Dodge is adding wires under the wipers so they can be freed when frozen and not burn up the motor.
But Chevy is adding the wire elements to the trunks of all of their cars to keep your hands warm while you're pushing!
