Of the three vintage cars participating, Ron Silva's '66 GT coupe proved that even a basically stock vintage Mustang can do just fine at sustained speeds over 100 mph. Keep in mind, however, that Ron's car is basically a new '66 GT, having been gone through from stem to stern. While the car is mechanically new, it's still mechanically stock other than the modern tires and T5 trans. In addition to running Highway 318, Ron drove the car round trip from his hometown of Sanger, California, to Nashville in April 2004 during the Mustangs Across America drive celebrating the Mustang's 40th Anniversary.
