Mustangs were looking sharp at the NMRA's Laurel Mountain Mustang All-Ford Auto Show in Georgia
The National Mustang Racers Association rolled into Reynolds, Georgia, on March 31-April 2 for the 6th Annual Bassani Xhaust Ford Nationals at Silver Dollar Raceway. While the drag racers battled for pride and season points on the quarter-mile, the show cars in the Laurel Mountain Mustang All-Ford Auto Show, sponsored by Mustang Monthly and our sister title, Mustang & Fords, competed for trophies and Top 20 awards.

In the absence of Mustang Monthly editors, NMRA photographer Paul Rosner selected our Editor's Choice winner for the NMRA event in Reynolds. And we must say that he did a fine job by picking Lars and Dottie Anderson's '66 Mustang fastback. The Andersons, from Juliette, Georgia, had completed the car just three weeks earlier.
The silver fastback remains mostly stock. However, Lars did add a few factory and aftermarket upgrades for improved performance, starting with the 289 engine that has been enhanced with an Isky camshaft, '67 heads with hardened seats, Edelbrock Performer intake with an Edelbrock 500-cfm four-barrel carburetor, and a factory Hi-Po exhaust manifold with matching Hi-Po H-pipe. KYB gas shocks support the stock springs, while front disc brakes from a '75 Granada assist with the stopping. Tom Martin at Southside Transmission in Macon handled the C4 rebuild. Jefferson Body Shop in Jefferson, Georgia, applied the silver paint, followed by body-side pinstriping from Troopers Collision Service.
