No Can DoI have enclosed a picture of my two Mustangs: a '69 SportsRoof and a '97 Cobra. I am a longtime subscriber, and I was hoping that these vehicles could be included in your Readers' Album department. If possible, perhaps you could use the one with my son (and co-owner) Evan. I have owned the '69 since 1992, when I bought it and embarked on the restoration road. The Cobra is, of course, original and a fun car to drive. Please let me know if you need any additional information or if you need negatives.Wayne C. Olson

GT Nearly FreeIn June 1983 I was returning from church one Sunday morning, and I saw a '66 Vintage Burgundy convertible in a driveway. I knew nothing about Mustangs at the time but thought my wife would love a convertible. I stopped to ask the owner if the car was for sale. He replied that it was, since he had a son about to turn 16 and was afraid to let him drive a ragtop. His asking price was $2,000. While testdriving the '66, it became obvious that it needed a complete muffler system. Guessing a new system costs about $200, I offered $1,800. The deal was made.
The next day, I took the Mustang to our local Mustang shop for repairs. The mechanic walked around the car several times, raised the hood, checked under the dash (later I learned that he was looking for the foglight switch), looked at the 140-mph speedo, and stated he would give me $4,000 for the car as is. You guessed it-it was a K-code GT with an incorrect auto transmission. The man from whom I purchased the '66 said that it had some fancy lights on the grille, but they were broken, so he took them out! Unfortunately, the '66 GT convertible was severely burned on the right side when an adjacent car in a parking lot caught fire. A local collector had always wanted the car, so a reasonable deal was made-way more than $4,000! I now make myself content with the "Truckstang," a '90 Mustang I converted into a truck. However, I'm always looking for another convertible. Who knows? Maybe I'll find a Shelby in...Marcus D. Ellis Jr.Walnut Grove, MS
We've seen the Truckstang and know that it is a full-time job keeping that beauty show-worthy. Therefore, we would be more than happy to take the burden of a cheap Shelby off your mind. Where did you say it was again?
Green Is GreatI just want to thank you for consistently producing a great magazine month after month, year after year. An article in the Nov. 2000 issue ("Coincidence," page 52) caught my attention.
