1967 Replacement Body Mustang Underbody
The finned-aluminum Cobra oil pan looks right at home as a period modification, though the steering rack and Tremec five-speed gearbox are far superior to Ford's '67 counterparts. In the end, it's all in the details. As you can clearly see, this chassis is detailed to the hilt.

1967 Replacement Body Mustang Rear End
In contrast to CDC's Flashback project (see sidebar), our feature '67's chassis could easily pass for a restored original, right down to the red-oxide primer. The short-tube headers in the exhaust system are likely the furthest departure from stock in this view. The fuel tank is also from Dynacorn, sized at 16 gallons. Larger tanks are also offered.

1967 Replacement Body Mustang Making Progress
One of several structural enhancements on the Dynacorn unibody is in the seat area of the floorpan, which features double reinforcement humps over the transmission tunnel. On original '67s, these were a convertible-only feature intended to provide necessary additional stiffness. This is one example of where Dynacorn has chosen to go more robust than the original stampings, knowing that these new bodies will be subjected to power levels not even remotely contemplated in 1967.

The front discs and their vented rotors are from Stainless Steel Brake Corporation, having notably better stopping power than a factory setup, but also small enough to fit behind the 15-inch Styled Steel wheels. Disc brakes are also found out back.

A Horse With New Name
While CDC has no plans to build copies of our featured fastback, you'll recall we mentioned that the company is building a second Dynacorn-based '67 for the SEMA Show, called "The Flashback." The Flashback will be a wilder Mustang, one with a lot of modular-supplied horsepower, a six-speed gearbox, and a thoroughly modern and adjustable chassis setup, not to mention a few aggressive-but-refined body and interior enhancements. Best of all, CDC will be happy to build you a Flashback of your own. Stay tuned for more details.

1967 Replacement Body Mustang Fresh Engine
We told you CDC's Flashback will be the wilder cousin of our feature '67. Check out the coilover (front and rear) suspension and those massive six-piston calipers and pie-plate rotors. In the early stages of development at the time of our photo shoot, the engine room is dummied up with a Mach 1 Four-Valve modular motor just to get an idea of how everything will fit. In production form, a potent modular engine will be nestled between the shock towers. Right now, that's all we dare tell you.

1967 Replacement Body Mustang Bottoms Up
No leaf springs here. Things are just as sophisticated out back with a torque arm, Watt's link, and coilover shocks serving to keep the Flashback's 9-inch axle under control. The suspension/ brake hardware is from RRS, specialists in massively upgraded chassis, brake, and steering bits for '60-and-up Fords. We can't wait to get some seat time.
