A Motor Trend staffer checks out the 289 High Performance engine. Note the painted valve covers; more than likely, the car was built before chrome covers were available. The VIN on the inner fender has been obliterated, which tells us that the car probably started out as an F- or D-code Mustang before being converted into a "K-code" Hi-Po for testing by the west coast car magazines.
