The plastic safety seal’s main job is to prevent the release pin from falling out, causing possible discharge of the fire extinguisher. The seal also acts as a quick visual inspection that the unit has not been used or tampered with. If you find you have pulled the release pin but did not discharge the unit (like when someone gets the fire out before you can respond), do NOT use a tie wrap as a replacement safety seal. You can get a new seal from your local fire equipment center.
