A steel bulkhead panel behind the rear seat in a coupe is a nice safeguard, not only as a firewall but to prevent loose objects in the trunk from entering the passenger compartment in a collision. The heavy gauge steel panel not only reinforces and strengthens the trunk floor area, but it effectively places the fuel tank “outside” the trunk like a modern car.
