5. The ’65-’66 radio (stock or aftermarket) mounts from the rear of the dash structure. As such, once the shaft knobs and retaining nuts are removed, you’ll have to fish it out from behind the dash. Non-A/C cars are easy, but we found if we removed the passenger retaining bolt for the under dash unit and pulled it forward, we had just enough room to squeeze the unit out between the A/C and heater boxes. The ’67 and up owners have it much easier by simply unbolting the radio bezel.
