Pedals are among those items we seldom think about. They're always there, mostly black, blending into the carpet background, so perhaps we take them for granted. But you have the option of dressing-up your late-model Mustang pedals with Sullivan billet-aluminum pedal covers from Brothers Performance. Not only do they brighten up the floor area to provide a racy appearance, they also assist with grip, especially when the bottom of your shoes are wet.
The Sullivan custom billet pedals are designed primarily for late-model Mustangs, however, you can install them on just about anything, including a classic Mustang.
 | This is the complete Sullivan billet-pedal kit from Brothers Performance, which retails for $49.99. The kit is designed for '79-'04 Mustangs, but it can easily be adapted to vintage '65-'78 Mustangs. The pedal on the left is a footrest, common on late-model Mustangs. | Begin by removing the rubber pads. You may want to clean up and paint each pedal with satin black or a billet-aluminum color. |
Using the billet pedal as a template, mark the pedal and drill screw holes using a 1/8-inch bit. | Each pedal segment installs using countersunk trim screws. For stability, put a piece of rubber between the billet and pedal. | To install the billet brake pedal, attach one screw and drill the rest using the pedal as a template. |
This installation took 10 minutes and look at the difference. This is one example of what can be done with pedals. | Do the same routine with the accelerator pedal: four screws, four drill holes. Angle the accelerator pedal the way you want; make sure you're able to use all four holes. | Some Fox-body '79-'04 Mustangs have this footrest on the far left. This clever feature first appeared on the '84-'86 Mustang SVOs and ultimately became a standard Mustang item. |
