Remote Trunk Release Installation Switch Power
Switch power can come from a switched or unswitched location. It boils down to when you'd like the trunk release to function. If you want it to function at all times, power can come from a fused power source such as the cigarette-lighter circuit. If you want power only when the ignition switch is on, get it from the ignition switch (1967) or from a switched underdash pigtail (1968). Regardless of where you get power, it must be protected with a fuse.

Remote Trunk Release Installation Punch Hole
Punch a hole in the carpet and feed the power lead through it. Make sure none of the screws penetrate the wiring insulation. Perform an operational check and adjust the latch as necessary. Keep in mind a new weatherstrip may make the trunk-latch-to-catch-fit tight, making latch operation erratic.

For those who prefer to hide their trunk release, you can also use a fuel door or remote trunk push-button release from a late-model Mustang. You can put the button just about anywhere, including the glove compartment.
