New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel Installed

New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel New Wheel
This reproduction steering wheel is something to be admired. It's handmade in Switzerland and available from Branda Performance. It's spot-on accurate in every detail with impeccable craftsmanship. Installation is easy because it arrives assembled and ready to install. Dave Kunz had the custom leather-wrap performed locally to simulate Frank Bullitt's '68 fastback. It's genuine woodgrain.
New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel Disconnect Battery
Dave disconnects the negative cable to eliminate the risk of short circuit and electric shock.
New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel Wheel Hub
This quality reproduction is designed to fit '67 or '68 steering columns. Now is a good time to replace the turn signal switch.
New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel Bolt In
Dave sets the wheel in place and checks seating, then gets the fine thread locknut started. He has ascertained the shaft is at 12 o'clock with the front wheels straight ahead. Some Mustangs have a reference mark at 12 o'clock.
New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel Allign And Tighten
The steering wheel nut is torqued to 25-35 lb-ft.
New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel Wire And Connect
The horn switch is similar to the aftermarket steering wheels from Grant Products. Connect the two horn leads. Make sure they don't ground anywhere. It's a good idea to use heat shrink around them for safety.
New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel Attach Horn
Dave seats the horn switch in place, then installs the negative battery cable for an operational check.
New Reproduction Shelby Steering Wheel All Done
Once installed, the Branda wheel looks and feels good. Dave's leather treatment is the icing on the cake.
