Custom Billet Badges Checkered Flag Emblems
These checkered flag emblems are among dozens of different types available from Billet Badges. For example, "390 FE POWER" is the personalized side of this Billet Badges project. This same checkered flag billet badge could have "MUSTANG POWER" or "LOVE MUSTANGS" or anything your imagination can create as long as the letters fit the badge. Just peel off the backing for stick-on installation.
Computer aided design (CAD) technology has brought us terrific parts and accessories in recent years, everything from aluminum cylinder heads to cool interior items to custom wheels, which would have been impossible a quarter century ago. With the advent of CAD technology, it is now possible to customize Mustangs in ways never dreamed possible before. MCA board member and show judge Laurie Slawson turned us on to Billet Badges and their personalized billet Mustang fender badges. These badges are peel and stick accessories you can slap on your Mustang in an afternoon.

Custom Billet Badges Test Measure
Before installation begins, you need to know where the badges will be located. Locate them in a factory position or find your own spot. Use duct tape sticky-side out to temporarily locate badges. Then, stand back and see if the location appeals to you.

Custom Billet Badges Level Surface
To get the positioning correct, your Mustang must be on a perfectly level surface. We're taking this approach with a carpenter's level to get our fender badges parallel with the fender beltline. Reference the bubble at this location.

Custom Billet Badges Mask Tape Area
Use masking tape to lay out the body reference line. Then, check with the carpenter's level and measuring tape. The bubble should be in the exact same spot as it was when you checked the beltline. Centerline should be the same on each side. This gets your badge in parallel with the beltline. This approach will not work where there's no beltline. Badges should always follow bodylines in any case.
