Use masking tape to lay out the body reference line. Then, check with the carpenter's level and measuring tape. The bubble should be in the exact same spot as it was when you checked the beltline. Centerline should be the same on each side. This gets your badge in parallel with the beltline. This approach will not work where there's no beltline.
