Tie Down Mustang Axle Housing

At the rear, Don typically wraps the straps around the axle housing (under the brake lines to prevent crushing or damaging them). However, for Mustangs with a transverse muffler, like Christopher Lemp's '69 Mach 1, Don wraps the strap around the outside of the axle and the leaf spring perch. This outboard method keeps the straps low to keep them from rubbing and possibly scuffing the low-hanging transverse muffler. View Related Article
