15 An ohmmeter connected to the “I” and “F” terminals confirms regulator integrity. If you get a zero reading, you have a good regulator. Anything over 10 ohms is too much resistance and the regulator must be replaced. If you’re testing a mechanical regulator, check field relay and voltage limiter contacts for pitting and corrosion.
