There's no denying that the first generation of Mustangs had some fairly rare and/or popular options, both factory and dealer installed, that today are in high demand. Who wouldn't want an original radio reverb unit in their coupe as a conversation piece? Or perhaps the rare (but annoying) Rotunda headlight warning buzzer might be of interest (it was for me). Thankfully, due to the high build numbers and insane popularity of the vintage Mustang, we not only have a thriving hobby, but a whole industry of replacement parts with more new parts dropping every day. One visit to your favorite vendor's website and you can usually find new parts never before available for your restoration.
One such popular option many owners have wanted to see reproduced over the years has been the '69 Mustang deluxe interior's Rim-Blow steering wheel. This woodgrain-detailed, plastic steering wheel featured a three-spoke design with a horn contact switch embedded into the inner wall of the steering wheel rim. This allowed the driver to easily honk the horn by simply squeezing the wheel no matter where the steering wheel was positioned--handy for use in a turn or parking maneuver. The Rim-Blow horn switch and a few small pieces have been reproduced over the years, but the steering wheel itself has not been until recently when National Parts Depot tooled up to build an exact replica of the original. So whether your original Rim-Blow deluxe wheel is cracked or worn thin, or you want to add the Rim-Blow deluxe wheel to your Mustang, now you can. Of course, if your Rim-Blow deluxe wheel simply needs a new horn switch or center pad, NPD has the pieces available separately.
National Parts Depot offers all of the parts you need to refinish your '69 deluxe rim blow steering wheel, including the wheel itself, individually. Or, if your wheel is too far gone (or you're looking to upgrade to the deluxe wheel) NPD offers all of the parts required under one part number.
