This is how the '69 Mustang looked when it arrived at Flores Motorsports in San Antonio. As we pointed out last month, a previous owner built the car into a Boss 302 clone, complete with rolled fender lips, a shock-tower reinforcement, and filled-in rear quarter-panel scoops.

We were impressed with the results of the sodablasting at SoTex Soda Blast in New Braunfels, Texas. Similar to sandblasting, the process uses baking soda to remove paint without damaging other materials, such as the wiring harness and rubber bumper shown in this photo of the '69 Mustang's clean and ready-to-paint front subframe.
Timber Wolf 1969 Ford Mustang 302 Shock Tower
We were initially impressed by the fact that someone added front shock-tower reinforcements to our Boss 302 clone, but Rick Flores of Flores Motorsports wasn't pleased with their welding skills. This will be cleaned and repaired at Austin's Collision.

The sodablasting uncovered some hidden surprises, such as this poorly repaired rear quarter-panel on the passenger side. The Frankenstein-like stitches will be repaired at Austin's Collision before the car is painted. Restoration components, including the replacement sheetmetal and hood, were obtained from National Parts Depot.
