Mark Jeffrey at Coast High Performance showed us this revision to the 5.0L/5.8L roller tappet system. This plastic lifter retainer (PN F77E-6K564-AA) replaces the forked affair Ford has been using since roller tappets were first employed in the small-block in 1985. We're not completely certain which system is better, but both types are available from Coast High Performance.  Roller tappets are installed...  Roller tappets are installed next, along with the guides and the spider. The spider holds the guides in place. Soak the lifters in 30W engine oil before installation.
