To help identify vintage Mustang distributors by their casting numbers, use a book like George Reid's High Performance Ford Engine Parts Interchange, available from CarTech (39966 Grand Ave., North Branch, MN 55056; 800/551-4754; www.cartechbooks.com). The book lists nearly 500 distributor casting numbers including production and service replacement versions for '64 1/2-'73 Mustangs, both small-block and big-block.
