There's no doubt about it – today's Mustang is the best Mustang ever. With a 305hp V6, 412hp GT (420hp for '13!), 444hp Boss 302, and 550hp Shelby G.T. 500 (650hp for '13!), it's the best performance Mustang line-up since 1969. But thanks to a great Mustang to start with, the performance aftermarket keeps coming up with great products to make the Mustang even better. Here's a look at some of the best performance products for the '11-'13 Mustang. Many of them fit the '05-'10 models as well.
Intake swaps have been popular ever since the invention of the gasoline engine. Ford Racing provides owners of '11-'13 Mustang GTs with a factory swap, offering the short-runner intake from the Boss 302 for optimum flow at higher rpms. Identical to the intake found on the '12-'13 Boss 302, the intake is made from a lightweight composite material and is a direct swap for the original 5.0L intake. Calibration is required, and a Boss 302 Intake Manifold Install Kit, part number M-9444-M50B, is recommended. The Boss 302 intake can be purchased wherever Ford Racing parts are sold.
Corsa Performance Exhausts has introduced new bolt-on exhaust systems for the '11-'12 Mustang GT and V-6, Shelby G.T. 500, and Boss 302. The axle-back exhaust features a dual rear-exit design along with Corsa's patented Reflective Sound Cancellation technology for a muscular exhaust note with no interior resonance. Two sound levels are offered: the Sport system is robust on the throttle while the Xtreme system produces a louder, more aggressive note. Corsa claims an improvement of seven horsepower for the Mustang GT and Boss. Installation hardware and instructions are included.
Designed and manufactured for MRT's SEMA Award-winning '11 Mustang TKO, the MRT MaxFlow H-pipe for '11-'13 V6 Mustangs minimizes restriction and power losses by maximizing the flow of exhaust gases for increased power and performance coupled with a deep performance sound. During the design process, the MRT engineering team optimized the tube diameter to 2 ½ inches for 25 percent more flow. Mandrel bending technology ensures smooth bends and precise fit from the 304 stainless steel. MRT's catalytic converters are built to last with choice packing designed to endure serious performance driving for many years. The system is a direct fit factory replacement with no other modifications required, although custom tuning (available from MRT) will optimize the performance gain.
Coyote Throttle Body
BBK's 85mm Power-Plus throttle body for the Coyote 5.0L in '11-'12 Mustang GTs is an easy way to increase throttle response and add 8-12 rear-wheel horsepower. Each BBK unit starts life as a new CNC-machined 356 aluminum casting which is then fitted with high-quality components, including a new OEM drive motor and electronics, to make it a true bolt-on and plug-in upgrade. The throttle body works with both stock and aftermarket tunes.
Shelby Performance Parts' 6-speed shifter for '11-'13 V6 and GT Mustangs reduces throw by 40 percent without sacrificing the neutral left to right movement. Offered as part number S11M-7210-B, the shifter is made with a dual pivot trunnion for fast, smooth shifts, especially the Second to Third shift during spirited driving. A new shifter bracket is provided to replace to factory's flimsy bracket. The shifter works with the factory reverse lock-out and reverse camera.
5.0L Coil Covers
Owners of '11-'13 Mustang GTs can now dress up their 5.0L Coyote engines with coil covers from Ford Racing. Available in blue (same as Boss 302, M-6P067-M50B), black (M-6067-50BK), or chrome (M-6067-50C), the covers are a direct replacement for the factory covers. The black and chrome covers are made from die-cast aluminum with etched Ford Racing logo, while the blue covers are plastic with a "Powered by Ford" logo.
A new TVS handling kit from Hotchkis Sport Suspension provides exceptional handling, traction, and driver control for '11-'13 Mustangs. A tuned and balanced system, the kit increases front/rear roll stiffness for crisp, quick turn-in response while also lowering the stance. The system includes Sport Springs that lower ride height 1-inch with higher spring rates, tubular 4-way adjustable front (1.5-inch) and 3-way adjustable rear (1-inch) sway bars, and an optional adjustable Panhard rod to remove unwanted side to side axle movement during cornering.
The new black "Coyote-style" 5.0 emblems from Latemodel Restoration Supply add a great custom look to '11-'13 Mustangs. They feature the correct "curved" shape for easy installation with the pre-installed die-cut adhesive.
MRT now offers a front splitter for the '10-'12 Mustang GTs, California Specials, and '12 Boss 302s. Engineered and constructed at the MRT facility, the race-inspired front splitter adds an aggressive, purposeful, and aerodynamic stance. Built to last with ABS plastic construction, the splitter does not require paint. Stainless steel turnbuckles resist rust and secure the splitter to the front fascia. The splitter installs with no additional pieces for California Special and Boss 302 models; an MRT installation kit is required for GTs.
DynoMax Performance Exhaust has introduced a new axle-back exhaust system for '11-'12 Mustang GTs with the 5.0L Coyote engine. Offered as part number 39504, the system includes a pair of Ultra Flo muffler assemblies with 2.75-inch inlet pipes and 3.5-inch slant-cut tips, along with OEM-style rod brackets. Made from 409S stainless steel, the pipes measure a full 3-inches in diameter throughout. The kit comes with installation hardware and even includes side-pipe spacer plates with larger .75-inch holes - a popular modification in itself.
The OEM rubber shifter bushings in '11-'12 Mustang manual shifters are soft and can wear out quickly. That's why Energy Suspension offers a firmer polyurethane upgrade that offers more consistent shifting and will outlast its rubber counterpart.
Shelby Performance Parts' high-performance caster/camber plates (part number SMA-1818-A) allow for the adjustment of caster/camber for optimum handling characteristics. Additionally, they are useful in applications where the car has been lowered by allowing the correction of excessive negative camber. The bolt-on plates provide a 1.6-degree continuous range of camber adjustment without affecting caster, while 0.7-degree continuous caster adjustment provides correction for OEM production tolerances. With the Shelby caster/camber plate, both caster and camber are adjustable at the top of the strut tower. Plates are also available for '05-'10 Mustangs and '07-'10 Shelby G.T. 500s.

You can add to the '11-'12 Mustang GT's heritage looks with a Shaker Hood System from Ford Racing. In fact, Ford engineers specifically designed the stock hood with reinforcement in the stamping for the Shaker scoop. It attaches to the intake manifold through the factory engine cover to provide an appearance – and “shaking” scoop – like the original Shaker from the '69-'70 Mustang. Like the original, it is functional, delivering cold outside air to the OEM air box. The M-16612-SHKB kit includes all mounting hardware, ductwork, template for cutting the hood, and detailed instructions. The factory strut tower brace can remain in place.
Centered Fog Lights
To get that '67 Shelby look for '10-'12 Mustang GTs, California Muscle Parts (a division of California Mustang) offers a centered fog lamp kit that moves the factory grille lights from the outboard position to the center. The grille shells look and feel like the original except for the change in fog light position. The California Muscle Parts kit includes the new grille shell, wiring harness extension, and mounting hardware.
For a 20 percent shorter throw between shifts, Latemodel Restoration Supply offers the SVE Mongoose Short-Throw shifter for '11-'13 GT and V6 Mustangs equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission. Made from high-grade 7075-T6 aluminum, the Mongoose shifter is a direct replacement for the factory shifter.
Responding to the demand of '11-'12 Mustang GT owners for a more performance exhaust sound, MRT has developed a new Interceptor axle-back exhaust system that optimizes exhaust flow while producing a deep, throaty, musclecar tone. Made from 304 stainless steel and CNC mandrel-bent tubing, the system features a new muffler design for improved sound quality without annoying resonance. The Interceptor systems come with 4-inch stainless steel tips.

For some drivers, the factory headrests on '10-'12 Mustangs can be uncomfortable. That's why MRT developed tilting headrests that are adjustable to four different positions, enabling drivers to achieve their most comfortable driving position. Manufactured in America, the headrests deliver factory quality fit and finish by matching the grain of the Mustang's leather interior. They are available in a variety of colors.
The '11-'12 Mustang's 3.7L V6 makes 305 horsepower from the factory, but AirRaid has figured out how to squeeze a few more ponies with their new PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer, which provides improved throttle response and increased low-end torque. Made from high-quality CNC-machined billet aluminum, the spacer features AirRaid's patented Helix-Bore design that creates a spinning of the incoming air charge as it passes through the throttle body spacer. This contributes to improved intake velocity and better atomization of the air-fuel mixture. The PowerAid is easy to install and comes with all mounting hardware.
Owners of '11-'12 Mustang GTs can put a little "road race" into their street cars with Ford Racing's Handling Pack. Adjustable dampers and springs for a 1-1/2-inch drop are available separately.
Here's a time-honored modification for '11-'13 Mustang convertibles (also fits '05-'10 models). Ever since Shelby added a roll bar to the '69-'70 Shelbys, they've been a popular addition for all Mustang convertibles, especially when the '94 Mustang arrived. The SVE styling bar from Latemodel Restoration Supply is constructed from high-grade urethane that has a grained, charcoal finish for factory look and fit. Although not designed as roll-over protection, the inner structure is made of steel tubing for a solid support structure. The bar comes in charcoal black to match most interiors.
UPR's billet shifter for '11-'12 Mustangs fits both the V-6 and GT V-8 models with the 6-speed manual transmission. Made from 7075 CNC billet aluminum with a silver finish, the shifter offers 20 percent shorter throws for quicker, more precise shifting. It installs in 30 minutes.
