Seeing the wear on the roller tips of our retrofit lifters, we knew our next step was to remove the camshaft. Out came the sockets to pull the front accessories, timing cover, timing chain, and even the radiator and A/C condenser (required for in-car cam swaps on the Fox-body). We found four damaged lobes with roughly .020-inch less lift on them! Worst of all, we could easily see the number one cam bearing was severely damaged as well.
