You can quickly test the IVR without tearing into the dash by connecting a basic 12-volt test light to the water temperature sending unit’s wiring pigtail and turning the ignition key to run. You should see a constant blinking of the test light. You can also use a volt-meter and watch the needle or digital scale move. If you don’t see the signal pulsing, you’ll have to inspect your wiring or dig into the dash/gauges.
