Another common gasket issue to be aware of is the coolant ports at the ends of the cylinder heads on most Ford V-8 engines. The gasket can fail, causing a coolant leak to the exterior of the block, but even worse, can allow coolant into the adjacent combustion chamber. A bad leak can cause internal engine damage. Be especially careful of this situation on late-model 5.0L swaps when using a stock or early Ford intake manifold.
