6. Shoes ride against shoe pads stamped into the backing plate. Take backing plates to a fabrication shop and have worn pads welded up and machined true for proper shoe alignment. Pads worn at an angle can cause irregular shoe wear and sloppy performance because you’re not getting uniform lining and drum contact. A fabrication/machine shop will need shoes and drums to do this correctly. Not all shops will do it. You can also do this yourself if you have access to a welder.
