Since you are under a time constraint and need to sell the vehicle, I suggest you install an electric fuel pump near the gas tank outlet as soon as possible. A stock mechanical fuel pump does not draw nor push vapor well, and a solid supply of liquid fuel from an auxiliary pump will help the stock fuel pump's efficiency. I usually create a simple bracket to hang an electric pump under the vehicle-directly in front of the fuel tank outlet. Use the pump with a separate toggle switch so that the pump can be shut off independently from the actual switch.
The electric pump should overcome a fuel vapor-lock situation; however, this problem is not very common to our Mustangs. Be certain your problem is indeed fuel-related, because some ignition problems-such as a temperature-sensitive coil-exhibit similar symptoms.
