Cover My LightsDo you know where can I find new covers for the Marchal driving lights on my '86 Mustang GT? The covers are a thick, pliable plastic and are a dark gray color with the word "MARCHAL" on the front, to the right in white letters. To the left of that, the covers have a cat's face, also in white. To the left of the cat's face is a small rectangular square that's cut out. The original part number is E3SZ-15K233-A. This superceded part number E6ZZ-15K233-A. Please help if possible.Ed GileVirginia Beach, VA

Sounds like a good idea. We did a story in our Apr. '02 issue about sound-deadening material that might be of interest to you. Although it was on a vintage car, the sound-cancellation mats work in any car or truck if you really want to quell outside noise. Accumat, the material we used, is made by Scosche Industries, a car-audio accessories manufacturer (800/363-4490, 805/486-4450, www.scosche.com). It's available in three thicknesses, which allows you to use it in various places, such as under the hood, inside the doors, and on the floor underneath the carpeting.
ATF In A T5? Part III just read "ATF in a T5" in Late-Model Corral in the Feb. '04 issue. I feel compelled to point out an error. While it's true that all World-Class T5s use ATF, the obsolete non-World Class T5s must use gear oil only. I know this because I have an NWC T5 in my Mustang and accidentally filled it with ATF before being informed it should have gear oil in it. Luckily I hadn't driven it yet. It would have probably lasted a little while before causing some internal problems and eventually trashing the entire gearbox. The World Class T5 uses needle bearings under some of the gears, and therefore the ATF is sufficient. The NWC uses bushings that require the heavier 90-weight gear oil. The date circle on the casting should be checked for starters. Anything after 1985 is a WC. I worked for Borg-Warner and confirmed this information with some of the folks who helped launch the T5. Thanks for the info. Though most enthusiasts are interested in the newer versions of the T5, it always helps to have the full picture when it comes to all things for all T5s.
