High ShakerI own a '70 Mach 1 with the 351 Cleveland engine. It came from the factory with a nonfunctioning hoodscoop. In the process of restoration, I converted to the Shaker scoop after cutting the hood with a template. I love it, but the scoop sits too high. I have all original parts except the base, which is an aftermarket fiberglass unit. Are there different heights to these bases for Mustang, Torino, 351, Boss 302, or 428 Cobra Jet? Do you know how high the scoop should stick out of the hood or the actual height in inches of the proper base?Mike TravisCharleston, SC
There are four different Shaker air-cleaner bases for the '70 Mustang: Boss 302, 428 Cobra Jet, 351 Windsor, and 351 Cleveland. The 351 Clevelands, both two-barrel and four-barrel, use Ford PN D022-9600-S. According to the Ford Illustrated Parts and Accessory catalog, the dimensions are 18.88 inches in diameter and 6.25 inches high. To further complicate matters, the '69 Mustang and '70 Torino have their own unique Shaker bases.
N.O.S. GlassI'm having a terrible time tracking down an N.O.S. driver-side clear Carlite glass, number D-3292 clear, for my '66 K-code convertible. The restoration of my car is nearing completion, and this is the last item to locate. I've tried a large number of available sources that deal in N.O.S. glass and have struck out each time. I know repro glass is available, but I owe it to this car, due to its rarity, to turn over every stone to find N.O.S. glass. Can you help?Kevin HarbartSacramento, CA

Drag Pack SearchI'm restoring a '69 Mach 1 Drag Pack Mustang. Unfortunately, all of the driveline and Drag Pack items were removed before I got the car. I've located all items for this car at swap meets, except the oil cooler and speedometer cable. A few years ago, National Parts Depot offered a concours-correct reproduction of the oil cooler, but it's no longer available. Hidden BlackI need a Ditzler paint part number for the correct shade of black used for the underhood and fender-apron area of a '66 Mustang. I have seen it printed several times in different magazines, but can't find it now that I need it.Scott RamseyFlorence, KY
The Ditzler number is DDL-9423 for Low Gloss Black. I also recommend Ditzler DP90LF Epoxy Primer as a basecoat because the DDL-9423 is transparent over light-colored primer.
Please Release MeI'm currently redoing the front seats in my '70 Mach 1. The seats in it now have a seatback release that's positioned low, but I also have a set of seats with the release higher. I've looked on the Internet, and they're shown in both positions regardless of the year ('69 or '70). No one knows for sure. Can you help?Gary GellnerCoombs, British Columbia
The '69 Mustang front seats had the release lever near the center of the seatback, and in the '70 Mustang it was near the bottom of the seatback. I checked several '69 and '70 Mustangs with original seats here in the shop to confirm this.
